Local Musicians Showcase City Through Mockingbird Sessions

June, 2012 marks the release of what will be a series of music videos highlighting musicians in San Antonio, Texas and the surrounding area. The project, titled “Mockingbird Sessions,” gives musicians the opportunity to unplug and record an original song. The recordings will occur in unique, beautiful or historic places in San Antonio.

Mockingbird Sessions is presented by BORDERLINEA, a music and art organization founded by Michelle McCullough, whose mission is to exhibit the music and art afforded to the diverse communities in San Antonio and the surrounding area as a result of the integration of cultures and talents. The Mockingbird Sessions concept was born when BORDERLINEA teamed up with Random World Music, a website dedicated to highlighting original music by independent (Indie) Artists in Rock, Folk, Acoustic and Alternative genres.

“It is important for the community to hear how talented the individuals are within it. These videos will hopefully help shed more light on musicians and entertain people in the process,” said McCullough.

To date, six sessions were recorded ranging in sounds from folk to indie to Spanish rock bands. In conjunction with the unveiling of Mockingbird Sessions, the first three session will be released, with an additional session uploaded to the YouTube channel each month. The launch of Mockingbird Sessions coincides with the June 30 BORDERLINEA art and music showcase at The Mix where the group will showcase five visual artists: Christine Eakin, Elena Valenzuela, Giovanna Diz Zurita, Javier Gil and Deleted and five musicians: Jasper’s Cast, Hearts Fail, FILIO, Broken Buffalo and The Lost Project. The first round of sessions will include a sampling of bands featured in the showcase.
